Cameras feature motorized zoom and autofocus

MAY 17--At this year's Vision Show East, held this month in Boston, MA, newcomer WolfVision (Duluth, GA; www.wolfvision.com) announced a series of cameras aimed at the OEM machine-vision industry. Primarily known for its WolfVision Visualizer series of document image scanners, the company has diversified into machine vision, taking the technology from the Visualizer and offering it to OEMs as two camera modules.

The first, the SCB-1, is an XGA color camera block with a 12-time motor zoom and autofocus feature. With an on-board 1/3-in. XGA CCD, the camera module features an RS-232 control, 12X optical motor zoom, with manual and autofocus, manual and auto iris, and white balance. An XGA output of 1280 x 768, 16-bit color is provided in RGB format. The company is also offering the PSM-10, an XGA color camera with similar capabilities.

According to Arthur Jenni, general manager of WolfVision, the cameras will be targeted at OEMs in machine-vision applications where automatic zoom and focusing is mandatory.
