XenICs to produce IR detectors, cameras in Singapore
OCTOBER 2, 2008--XenIcs BV (Leuven, Belgium; www.xenics.com), a developer and manufacturer of infrared detectors and customized imaging systems, has established a presence in Singapore with sInfraRed.
Owned entirely by XenICs, sInfraRed is to provide marketing, sales, support, volume production, and customization of the Belgian firm's products in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
The facility in Singapore will cover the full spectral range of XenICs' product portfolio that is not restricted to InGaAs products. It is expected to achieve significant cost reductions for XenICs' expanding production of cameras and infrared detectors.
Bob Grietens, founder and CEO of XenICs, says, "With this geo-strategic expansion...[w]e can also supply worldwide markets that are better served locally than from our European home-base."
sInfraRed will be headed by Raf Vandersmissen, drawn from XenICs headquarters in Belgium. In addition to acting as a sales office for Asia, Australia, and Middle East -- to support the existing distributor network in these regions -- the operation will also extend the sales network to new regions and identify new markets for the firm's products. It will serve as a manufacturing base forROICs and PCBs in subcontracting projects. Another function of the new facility is custom product development for camera and ROIC design. Key technology developments, says the company, will remain at XenICs headquarters.
