JANUARY 21, 2009--FLIR Systems (North Billerica, MA, USA; www.flir.com) has completed its acquisition of Cedip (Croissy-Beaubourg, France; www.cedip-infrared.com), under terms announced by FLIR in 2007.
In the science camera market, FLIR says the acquisition improves its international distribution network and adds new products and technology, including cooled mid-wave infrared cameras, to the company's offerings.

"Customers served by Cedip can be assured FLIR will continue to provide innovative products and quality support. We are excited about bringing new products to market that build on the strengths of the newly integrated operations."
FLIR says cost benefits will be realized in the combined operations through integrated distribution and lower manufacturing costs. For example, Cedip's former Polytech subsidiary, located in Eskilstuna, Sweden, specializes in mid-size, low-cost, highly stabilized gimbal systems that are expected to position FLIR to take advantage of growth opportunities. The former Polytech subsidiary is now part of FLIR's Government Systems Division. Cedip's former infrared camera operations are joined with FLIR's Thermography Division. The former Cedip development and manufacturing center near Paris will continue to develop and produce high-end systems and operate as a "center of excellence" for FLIR cameras.
