PRESS RELEASE
The Manta, Guppy and Prosilica GX camera families are expanding. Broadened modular concept for more flexibility.
As always, Allied Vision Technologies (Stadtroda, Germany) will be presenting several new products and exciting application demonstrations at the leading trade show for imaging, VISION in Stuttgart. VISION takes place from November 9th to the 11th, 2010 at the new trade fairgrounds in Stuttgart.
Manta: new models, more flexibility
Since May of 2010, the AVT Manta has been successfully stirring up the entry-level market for industrial cameras with Gigabit Ethernet interface. This robust GigE camera is already available with six sensor variations from VGA to 2 megapixels. Two new models will premiere at VISION, the Manta G-033 and G-504, which extend the Manta line at the top and bottom with VGA and 5 megapixel resolution.
Moreover, the entire Manta palette has been expanded with new modular concept variations. Among them are options such as periscope right-angle heads, a board-level version and white medical housings. With eight sensors and its flexible modular concept, the Manta series offers the widest selection for every application in the GigE Vision entry-level market.
Smaller, faster, better: beyond Guppy comes Guppy PRO
A new wind is blowing in the entry-level FireWire area of AVT as well. The Guppy PRO will soon take its place as little Guppy’s successor. At 29x29x29 mm, the Guppy PRO models are even smaller than the Guppy, and as such are some of the most compact FireWire cameras available for industrial imaging. The new Guppy family has also become even faster, thanks to its IEEE1394b interface with image rates from up to 120 fps with VGA resolution. At VISION, six models will be introduced, offering resolution from VGA up to 5 megapixels.
Prosilica GX: New HD sensor and periscope housing
At VISION 2009, the Prosilica GX from Allied Vision Technologies attracted attention with its double Gigabit Ethernet interface. Alongside the existing models, now comes the Prosilica GX1920. This new camera is equipped with Sony’s fast ICX674 CCD sensor and, thanks to the Quad-Tap sensor technology and Link Aggregation Interface, promises high image rates even at full HD resolution.
Just as new to the Prosilica GX family is the new “periscope” housing variation. With this optional housing, the optics are mounted along the length of the housing. This periscope style of construction is suited for appications where little space is available within the housing behind the lens. The periscope housing will be available for all Prosilica GX models.
pi4 workerbot to challenge visitors
As in years past, visitors to the fair expect spectacular demonstrations of real-world applications at the AVT stand. This year, the public will meet the pi4_workerbot. This novel, flexible industrial robot from Berlin’s pi4_robotics is highly capable of learning, and “sees” via Allied Vision Technologies FireWire cameras. At the AVT stand, the pi4 workerbot will demonstrate its abilities and also invite visitors to play with it – and maybe even win prizes.
Broadway flair in Stuttgart
A further highlight of this year’s VISION will be the demonstration of an interactive advertising screen that premiered this past June in New York’s Times Square. An innovative campaign for fashion retailer Forever21 used imaging to include passersby in the ad itself – with the aid of a Prosilica GX camera from Allied Vision Technologies. This system will be in use at the AVT stand, allowing visitors to personally experience this new form of interactive advertising for themselves.
