Total machine vision sales in North America saw a 6% year-over-year jump, according to new statistics from the Automated Imaging Association (AIA.)
Included in these statistics are sales of machine vision systems and components. The machine vision systems category, which includes application-specific machine vision and smart cameras, was the main driver of growth in Q2, with a 7% increase from Q2 2012.
Machine vision components, such as cameras and software, saw decreases in sales in Q2, while lighting, optics, and imaging boards all increased.
“It’s good to see the market growing again,” said AIA President Jeff Burnstein in a press release. “After the contraction in 2012, it is very encouraging to see two consecutive quarters of growth in North America.”
