Edmund Optics has announced the release of its TECHSPEC germanium meniscus lenses, which feature a transmission range of 2 µm to 16 µm and are opaque in the visible part of the spectrum, making them suitable for use in infrared imaging. The lenses are available uncoated or with anti-reflection coating for increased performance in the designated coating wavelength range. Eighteen different RoHS-compliant lens varieties are available in 25 mm or 50 mm diameters and focal lengths from 25 mm to 100 mm, either uncoated or coated for the 3 µm to 5 µm or 8 µm to 12 µm wavelength range. The new germanium meniscus lenses are suitable for use in infrared imaging, surveillance, remote sensing, or infrared spectroscopy applications.
