In what the company is calling the next phase of its global manufacturing and service strategy, Datalogic has announced the opening of a new manufacturing operation in São Paulo, Brazil, the first in Latin America.

The facility will focus on the assembly of selected automatic data capture products and will be located in the city of Jundiai in São Paulo. Production of the first units began in May and passed Datalogic’s quality tests and standards. Datalogic Brazil will also offer in-country technical assistance and equipment maintenance, as well as a demonstration center where customers and partners can see and test the latest products.

The plant will produce a variety of automatic capture solutions for Brazil and surrounding Latin American areas, according to Bill Parnell, CEO of Datalogic ADC.

“The products will include bar code scanners and mobile computers, known as data collectors in this marketplace, which offer solutions for retail, transportation and logistics, manufacturing and healthcare,” he said. “Brazil is considered to be a fast growing market with great business potential. This factory can also cater to the Mercosur (Southern Common Market), and will render products and services to Latin America with a strong value proposition.”

Datalogic also recently opened a new office in Istanbul, Turkey, in order to expand its direct presence within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region and local customer and market needs. Similar to this opening, the Brazil location will provide local customers easier access and support to Datalogic products. Dr. Valentina Volta, CEO Business Development and CEO of Datalogic of Datalogic Industrial Automation, said that Datalogic’s automatic data capture products are also present in 19 of the 20 largest retail chains in Brazil.

"The establishment of a new plant in Brazil is a great opportunity to be closer to our customers and provide them with our technical support with competitive pricing. This investment is also part of Datalogic’s strategy and main ingredients to success highlighted by our Group Chairman and CEO, Dr Romano Volta which is customer focus and the investment in fast growing markets," said Volta in a press release.
