In 2013, e2v saw a 26% growth in its imaging business, and as a result, the company has decided to create two separate divisions within its high performance imaging business: professional imaging, and space imaging.
The professional imaging business will be led byFrancois Thouret, and will focus on commercial imaging products and services in the machine vision, medical imaging, scientific imaging, and thermal imaging markets. This business will incorporate the recently acquired AnaFocus CMOS business. The Seville, Spain-based Innovaciones Microelectronicas SL, trading as "AnaFocus," develops CMOS sensors and vision systems for industrial, professional, scientific, medical, and surveillance markets. The company was officially acquired by e2v for approximately €34.2 million (£27.1 million). AnaFocus is now expected to boost e2v’s machine vision business by approximately €11 million in 2014.

"The acquisition of AnaFocus is a key milestone on our journey to grow our business. The acquisition strengthens our position and market share by extending our value proposition for customer specific CMOS image sensors into high-growth market segments," said Thouret in an e2v press release.
Marc Saunders will lead the space imaging business, which will further develop e2v’s relationships with global space agencies and organizations such as NASA, ESA, JAXA, Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, and Ball Aerospace. The space imaging business has already added more than 70 jobs in the past year, and Saunders and his team are expected to drive further growth by advancing the company’s capabilities in the field of imaging focal plane arrays and control sub-systems.
"The changes we are making, with the creation of more agile customer-focused business areas, will put us in the best possible position to accelerate growth," said Saunders.
