Lattice Semiconductor Corporation and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. have announced the release of a low-cost development kit that provides a complete reference design for USB 3.0-enabled video bridges. The kit leverages the LatticeECP3 FPGA family and the Cypress EZ-USB FX3 USB 3.0 peripheral controller. Complete contents of the kit—which will be on display at the Intel Developer Forum from September 9-11—include a Lattice USB 3.0 video bridge reference design, a Nanovesta sensor adapter board, an adapter board to USB3 board-connecting cable, a 5V power supply, and a USB 3.0 cable. The bridge development kit—which enables 1080p video streaming over USB 3.0 at 60 fps— is suitable for use in machine vision applications, USB 3.0 cameras, surveillance applications, and industrial video systems.
