Point Grey has announced the release of a new Blackfly GigE Vision camera, the BFLY-PGE-50H5—which is available in color and monochrome— that features a 5 MPixel Sharp CCD image sensor. The sensor, the Sharp RJ32S3AA0DT is a 2/3” global shutter CCD sensor which features a 3.45 µm pixel size and can achieve a frame rate of 7.5 fps at full resolution. The technology developed by Sharp Corporation utilizes a microlens design that collects light more efficiently resulting in improved quantum efficiency in the visible and near infrared regions. In addition, the camera features Power over Ethernet, temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, look up table, gamma correction, and pixel binning functionality.
