Touted by Datalogic as a solution for variable data printing inspection in the food and beverage industry, IMPACT+ OCR combines both smart cameras and software into a preconfigured bundle.

The solution includes a new model in Datalogic’s P-Series smart camera and a graphical user interface that provides setup and configuration for any OCR application. The IMPACT P19 smart camera features a 1.3 MPixel global shutter CMOS image sensor with a 5.3 µm pixel size that can achieve a frame rate up to 60 fps. Lenses and illuminators are fully interchangeable and can be mounted and replaced by the user, while five focal lengths and nine lighting options offer 45 different combinations.

With the IMPACT+ OCR user interface, users can create multiple inspection recipes for OCR and code reading applications. Additional features include multiple OCR region reading, the capability for storing the different recipes, and a customizable operator interface.

"We develop solutions to make machine vision user-friendly and quick to implement," said Donato Montanari, General Manager Business Unit Machine Vision of Datalogic. "By continuously listen to our customers and learning what their needs are, we can respond with intuitive technology packed products. This is exactly what we did with IMPACT+ OCR."

IMPACT+ OCR, according to Datalogic, targets OCR applications in the food and beverage industry, delivering results for lot and batch number reading, expiration date verification, and serial number traceability.
