The European Machine Vision Association has announced its first-ever European Machine Vision Forum, which will be held September 8-9 of this year in Heidelberg, Germany.
Attendees at the two-day event can expect an event that is designed to foster interaction between the machine vision industry and academic researchers, so that innovations can be put into place faster. The event targets scientists, development engineers, software and hardware engineers, and programmers both from research and industry. Included at the forum will be plenary talks, software demonstrations, networking events, poster presentations, and more.
The focal topic of the inaugural forum is “Image processing algorithms – from low level to deep learning.” Image processing algorithms play an increasingly important role in vision systems, notes the EMVA, and the more complex a vision task, the more important it is to carefully select the best possible algorithm. The focal topic is discussed in further detail here, but the forum will touch on such algorithm topics as texture analysis, edge/line/corner detection, 3D reconstruction and SLAM, facial recognition, and image classifications.
