Intel announces tools for RealSense 3D camera technology development
At the 2016Intel Developer Forum, Intel announced the launch of a number of tools for its RealSense 3D camera.
RealSense 3D, which is a depth sensing device that features a 1080p HD camera, an IR camera and an infrared laser projector, is designed to enable intelligent, interactive, and autonomous machines with human-like 3D perception, according to Intel. The tools launched by the company are as follows:
- Intel RealSense Robotic Development Kit:This tool (pictured) features a compact AAEON UP board and an Intel R200 camera, and is designed to give developers the opportunity to build their own robot prototypes that can recognize people or objects and navigate an environment. It comes with Linux pre-installed and supports the Robot Operating System (ROS.)
- Intel RealSense ZR300 Development Kit:This camera peripheral and development kit combines depth sensing with motion tracking and is paired with the Intel RealSense SDK for Linux. This tool is designed for autonomous robotics, drones, and virtual and augmented reality.
- Intel RealSense Camera 400 Series:The next generation RealSense camera offers improved accuracy with more than double the number of 3D points captured per second and more than double the operating range, compared to the previous generation.
- Intel Euclid Developer Kit:This device integrates sense, compute, and connect capabilities and feature a RealSense camera, Intel Atom processor, and wireless connectivity. This plug-and-play platform enables users to create their own applications with RealSense in such markets as research and robotics.
