HALCON 13 machine vision software from MVTec officially launches
HALCON 13 machine vision software from MVTec has officially launched, with the product having recently been demonstrated live at VISION 2016.
In an interview with Vision Systems Design, Dr. Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director at MVTec Software said that HALCON 13 allows significant speedups, particularly with key identification technology shape-based matching and all related technologies, likeshape-based 3D matching, local and perspective deformable matching, and component-based matching.
"Since setting up a texture inspection system is often tricky, HALCON offers an easy-to-use texture inspection, which is configured by simply passing some training images that show flawless texture,"he said. "It also contains improvedsurface-based 3D matching, and major improvements in identification technologies such as OCR based on deep learning. Going forward, MVTec will always work on improving existing technologies and will continuously drive forward the machine vision community with pioneering developments. "The company also held the HALCON World Tour, a global series of seminars for users, which had record-breaking numbers of participants. More than 1,100 visitors attended the seminars in Japan, Taiwan, Scandinavia, and Israel.
Another notable new feature of the software is the "debugging of HDevEngineapplications." At the World Tour seminars and VISION, MVTec experts demonstrated ways to locate and eliminate program errors in the imaging part of C# and C++ applications with the aid of HDevEngine in HDevelop. This, according to MVTec, enables developers to simplify the programming of machine vision applications.
"This was the most successful VISION trade show in the 20-year history of our company," said Munkelt in a press release. "We've never welcomed so many visitors to our booth. We are especially happy to see this trend continue in the large numbers of participants in the HALCON World Tour. The new features of the latest version 13 of our standard software HALCON have fully met the expectations of our customers and partners. They benefit from imaging solutions that enable them to meet the strict requirements of automation production processes in the context of Industry 4.0 without problems."
