The Europeanmachine vision industry grew 10% in 2016 compared to the previous year, and similar growth can be expected in 2017, according to the VDMA.
"Machine vision is a major trend," said Olaf Munkelt, Chairman of the Board of VDMA Machine Vision and Managing Director at MVTec. "The period of growth will continue. For years, the European machine vision industry has been conquering new markets and applications. Many great opportunities, such as the smart factory or the car of the future, can only be achieved with machine vision as key technology. And new trends such as embedded vision open up additional areas of application."
In Germany, the machine vision industry grew by approximately 2.3 billion euros in 2016, which is 11% growth over the previous year. Sales in the industry in Europe has more than doubled from 2005-2015, and in 2017, the VDMA forecasts that it will grow by 8%.
More details on the forecast will follow this June, when the VDMA releases its annual market survey fon machine vision.
