Omron has released its FH vision system, which the company claims is the fastest (in terms of machine cycle times) of its type currently available. FH vision systems are designed for integration with PLCs, motion controllers, and robotic control systems. Cameras employed in the FH series are color and monochrome models with CMOS image sensors ranging from 300,000 to 4 million pixels. One prominent feature of the FH series is Omron’s Shape Search III vision algorithm, which enables precise measurements even when images are out of focus. FH compact vision controllers incorporate support for the EtherCAT machine control network, which allows communication cycle times as short as 500 µS to be achieved. FH vision systems are suitable for use in inspection and general manufacturing applications that require vision systems.
