VISION 2014 spotlight: International Machine Vision Standards booth
The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), the AIA, and the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) will once again gather together at the International Machine Vision Standards booth at VISION 2014.
Machine vision experts from each organization will present the most commonly used digital interface standards in the industry and offer advice on which standard is most suitable for a particular application. For the first time ever, the booth will offer hourly standards tutorials during all three show days, as well as a live introduction on the features of the individual standards. The tutorials will provide a look into the architecture, capabilities, and application fields of each standard.

EMVA to host International Vision Night prior to VISION 2014
Also new at this year’s show is a 3D demonstration of the EMVA-hosted GenICam standard, which showcases further development of the standard programming interface that standardizes the image acquisition of various 3D sensors. The booth (B09, Hall 1) will also host "happy hours" at 4:00 p.m. on each of the first two show days, which is held for networking purposes.
Earlier this year, the same organizations collaborated on the first ever Global Machine Vision Interface Standards brochure, which contains detailed explanations of vision industry standards, specifications on hardware and software interface standards, and a comparison chart, which can be used to guide the selection of the most appropriate standard for an application.
"Here we were able to get all the industry stakeholders together, to develop a common group of parameters, and to agree on the values across the standards,” said Bob McCurrach, Director of Standards Development for the AIA, of the brochure.
