Headwall Photonics will have its Nano-Hyperspec hyperspectral sensor on display at SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco. The Nano-Hyperspec sensor operates in the VNIR (400-1000nm) spectral range and is designed for use in small, hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). It features a 640 x 480 CMOS image sensor with a 7.4 µm pixel size that achieves frame rates up to 480 fps. In addition, the Nano-Hyperspec also features onboard data processing and storage and has 640 spatial bands and 270 spectral bands at a resolution of 2-3 nm. Lastly, the sensor has a GigE interface, a 17 mm lens, a 15.9° field of view, and a storage capacity of 480GB. Nano-Hyperspec sensors are suitable for use in UAV applications, including environmental monitoring or agricultural tasks.

Headwall recently entered into a partnership with Leica Geosystems where their Aibotix X6 multi-rotor copter will be outfitted with this sensor for customers desiring hyperspectral capabilities in the field of remote sensing.
