Global vision standards update for 2018 released by AIA
January 2018’s Global Vision Standards Update from the AIAprovides a look at the latest news surrounding machine vision standardsand the products that incorporate them.
Since the update is the first since the fall of 2016, Bob McCurrach, AIA Director, Standards Development, had much to cover. First, he provided some information on some upcoming international vision standards meetings (IVSM), including a spring event hosted by Silicon Software and VDMA in Frankfurt, Germany the week of May 14, 2018, and a fall event hosted by National Instruments and AIA in Austin, Texas, USA the week of September 17, 2018.
Additionally, the next AIA PlugFests will take place at the following venues:
- Boston Vision Show, Friday April 13, 2018, Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
- Frankfurt IVSM, Week of May 14, 2018, Frankfurt, Germany
- VISION 2018, Friday Nov 9, 2018, Messe Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany
From there he touched on the recent fall 2017 IVSM meeting, which was hosted by JIIA in Hiroshima, Japan the week of October 16, 2017. The highlight of the meeting was the first ever Camera Link PlugFest was held, which saw the testing of 26 camera/frame grabber combinations. McCurrach noted that great feedback was provided for future enhancements of the process. Also during this meeting, it was announced that Eric Carey of Teledyne DALSA stepped down after 10 years of being the committee chair for the GigE Vision Committee. Taking his place is fellow Teledyne DALSA employee Eric Bourbonnais, who had been supporting the technical committee for many years.
From here, McCurrach provided information on a forthcoming version of the Global Machine Vision Interface Standards brochure, which is to be updated by the Future Standards Forum (FSF), a working group of the G3. This will be updated to include other vision standards beyond digital interface standards, for example, EMVA’s 1288, JIIA’s Lighting and Lens standards and VDMA’s System Integrator Standard 2632.
McCurrach also provided updates for Camera Link, Camera Link HS, GigE Vision, and USB3 Vision standards. >>> Read about these updates here.
