FLIR has announced the availability of the FLIR Lepton 3.5 miniaturethermal camera core, which is designed to be built into original equipment manufacturers (OEM) products to provide thermal imaging capabilities.

FLIR’s smallest thermal camera core, Lepton modules are smaller than a dime and can fit inside of a smartphone. Lepton modules are found in many FLIR products, as well as partner products through the Thermal by FLIR program, which was created to support OEMs and product innovators interested in using the FLIR thermal imaging sensors. Companies developing thermal imaging products with the Lepton through the program include Cat Phones, Casio, Panasonic, ARSENZ ThermoGlass, and TinkerForge.

The Lepton 3.5 is available with either a 160 x 120 or 80 x 60 uncooled VOx microbolometer array and is sensitive in the longwave infrared range from 8 to 14 µm. At 160 x 120, the Lepton 3.5 is the highest resolution radiometric thermal camera core in the Lepton sensor family. Additionally, the Lepton 3.5 can read temperatures of up to 400°C (752°F).

The Lepton 3.5 is available today now through DigiKey, Avnet and Future Electronics.
