Photoneo has upgraded Bin Picking Studio and Locator Studio with AI-enabled extension modules for pallet unloading functions. The new functions are depalletization for robotic unloading of individual boxes from pallets and delayering for robotic unloading of entire layers of goods from pallets. The depalletization function allows robots to recognize many types of boxes, including those with unusual shapes or textures. The delayering solution allows robots to grab an entire top layer—even a layer of mixed products. The new AI-based neural networks are pretrained on images of thousands of boxes and are compatible with many brands of robots and grippers. Bin Picking Studio is a packaged solution combining the company’s PhoXi scanners and software for robotic bin picking, while Locator Studio is software for developing 3D vision-guided robotic applications in collision-free environments.
