DSP module performs FFT in 31 ms Using a 50-MHz BDSP9124 processor from Sharp Microelectronics Technology Inc. (Camas, WA), the SMT311 processing module can perform a 512 ¥ 512 real fast Fourier transform (FFT) in 31 ms. Benchmarks show that the module can also perform a 1k complex FFT in 64.6 ms. Input data are directly accessed to the on-board TMS320C44 global memory bus or via four 20-Mbyte/s communication ports. In a typical application, the BDSP9124 processor converts data to the frequency domain. The C44 processes the data and then returns the data to the 9124 for conversion back to the time domain. A supplied library performs DSP functions such as complex and vector arithmetic and data movement.
