OFreeO machine-vision software offered
The latest version of Sherlock32 machine-vision software is being provided free of charge to manufacturers, system integrators, and OEMs by Imaging Technologies Inc. (ITI; Bedford, MA). The software is available immediately by downloading from the Web at www.imaging.com/producttour/sherlock/sherlock.html or by calling (781) 274-2700 for a CD-ROM. OMaking Sherlock32 freely available is ITI?s way of contributing to the explosive growth of both the machine-vision industry and the global Internet,O says Gary Wagner, company president. OBy incorporating sophisticated vision tools and an easy-to-use GUI, Sherlock32 lays the foundation for widespread use of machine vision throughout the industrial sector,O he adds.
The software is a 32-bit Windows 95/NT-based application package that includes camera calibration, I/O control, report generation, and statistical-process-control capabilities, as well as image enhancement, filtering, and analysis routines. No programming is needed to configure an application.
However, there is a caveat. The OfreeO software will work on previously stored bit-map images. Users who want to collect and analyze images in real time, such as during inspection of an on-line process, must purchase a Sherlock license for $3600, which includes the Sherlock32 machine-vision application software for Windows NT and MVTools C/C++ based development software. Run-time licenses for MVTools, quantity 2+, are $350 per copy.
