PixeLINK has announced that its line of USB 3.0 cameras now feature support for the Linux Ubuntu operating system.

By supporting Linux Ubuntu, users of PixeLINK’s USB 3.0 CMOS camera line can use the PixeLINK software development kit in both the Linux Ubuntu and Microsoft Windows operating environments.

One customer that has already adopted Linux support is NASA, which has PixeLINK cameras running on a Linux platform that will be incorporated into future NASA systems.

"With the addition of the Linux Ubuntu support for our USB 3.0 line of cameras, PixeLINK has continued to expand our offerings to have the strongest line of USB 3.0 high speed industrial cameras in the market," said Paul Saunders, President of PixeLINK.

PixeLINK offers three different families of USB 3.0 cameras: Prometheus, Hyperion, and Titan. Prometheus USB 3.0 cameras are available in color and monochrome and are available with 1.3 MPixel, 2.2 MPixel, 2.3 MPixel, 4.2 MPixel, and 5.3 MPixel sizes. Hyperion cameras are available in 5 MPixel, 6.6 MPixel, and 9.6 MPixel models, while only one model, a 15 MPixel camera, is currently available in the Titan line.
