The European Machine Vision Association is now accepting submissions for the first ever European Machine Vision Forum, which will be held September 8-9 of this year in Heidelberg, Germany.
A new annual two-day event, the forum will foster interaction between the machine vision industry and academic researchers. The focal topic of the event is “Image processing algorithms – from low level to deep learning.” Image processing algorithms play an increasingly important role in vision systems, notes the EMVA, and the more complex a vision task, the more important it is to carefully select the best possible algorithm. The focal topic is discussed in further detail here, but the forum will touch on such algorithm topics as texture analysis, edge/line/corner detection, 3D reconstruction and SLAM, facial recognition, and image classifications.
Scientists, engineers, and programmers form both research and industry are invited to submit a poster, software demo or an open problem from an industrial application. Upon acceptance, these would then be discussed during one of the four poster and demo sessions taking place between the 12 conference speeches. Submissions will be accepted until August 19.
The 1st European Machine Vision Forum is supported by the Heidelberg Collaboratory on Image Processing (HCI) at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Calculation (IWR), an industry-on-campus project of Heidelberg University.
