JULY 13--Sky Computers Inc., a subsidiary of Analogic Corp. (Chelmsford, MA;www.skycomputers.com), and the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA; an agency of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence) have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly provide real-time data-processing systems. Sky will provide the COTS processing engines and subsystems. The DERA will provide application-based solutions consisting of Sky Computers' content, data-acquisition systems, and applications software for radar and electro-optic sensor solutions.

Says Mike Drake, Sky's director of international sales and business development, "Our relationship with the DERA will help to fulfill the ever-growing customer need for more complete systems. Gone are the days when just delivering hardware was enough. Today's sophisticated customers require that applications code be delivered with the machine. That requires a great deal of application expertise and experience. The DERA has that experience. Together the DERA and Sky deliver a true solution that only COTS plus application experience can provide."
