Robot is waterproofed for harsh conditions
DECEMBER 17, 2008--The six-axis M-710iC/50 SE FoundryPRO robot is IP67 protected for harsh environments such as die casting and foundry facilities. The entire robot is coated with a special epoxy, and the wrist has protective covers to withstand high-pressure washing. The robot's base purges air to avoid vapor entrance. Coated bolts and double oil seals are also incorporated at the joints to provide waterproofing. The M-710iC robot series offers payloads ranging from 20 to 70 kg and a reach of 1360 to 3110 mm. Multiple mounting methods including floor, ceiling, angle, and wall.

PRESS RELEASE
FANUC Robotics Introduces M-710iC/50 SE FoundryPRO Robot at Cast Expo 2008
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., May 17, 2008 - FANUC Robotics America Inc. will introduce its M-710iC/50 SE FoundryPRO robot designed for super harsh environments during Cast Expo 2008, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, May 17-20, booth #1707.
The new M-710iC/50 SE FoundryPRO robot is IP67 protected for operation in the harshest environments. The entire robot is coated with a special epoxy, and the wrist has protective covers to withstand high-pressure washing. In addition, the base of the robot purges air to avoid vapor entrance.
"The M-710iC/50 SE sets the benchmark for robots working in the super harsh environments of die casting and foundry facilities," said Virgil Wilson, product manager, FANUC Robotics. "In addition to the protective epoxy and air purge, we've incorporated coated bolts, and double oil seals at the joints, making this a truly waterproof robot."
The six-axis M-710iC/50 SE is the latest member of the M-710iC robot series, which offers payloads ranging from 20 kg to 70 kg, and a reach of 1360 mm to 3110 mm. Multiple mounting methods including floor, ceiling, angle and wall, make it possible for users to have better access to unusual work pieces.
"This is an exciting robot based on its capabilities and flexibility," added Wilson, "It's rated 'best in class' for speed, and has one of the largest work envelopes in its class. In addition, its compact size and ability to flip over and work behind itself maximizes flexibility for work cell design, and saves valuable floor space."
At the show, the new M-710iC/50 SE FoundryPRO robot, along with an LR Mate 200iC robot and an R-2000iB FoundryPRO robot equipped with iRVision will demonstrate intelligent part washing. The R-2000iB will use iRVision 3D robot guidance to remove one part from a cart, transfer it to the LR Mate 200iC for deburring, then to the M-710iC/50 SE (located in a wash booth) for high-pressure washing. Upon completion, the M-710iC/50 SE passes the part by an air knife for drying, then exchanges parts with the R-2000iB which puts the completed part on an output cart and the cycle repeats itself.
iRVision - Integrated (built-in) Vision
The FANUC iRVision system is a ready-to-use robotic vision package, available on all FANUC robots, requiring only a camera and cable - no additional processing hardware. It has a 2D robot guidance tool to accomplish part location, error proofing, and other operations that normally require special sensors or custom fixtures.
LR Mate 200iC Intelligent Robot
The LR Mate 200iC robot, offers maximum performance in a light, efficient, accurate and nimble (LEAN) package. It is designed to meet the automation needs of a variety of industries including electronics, medical devices, food, metals, plastics, and packaged and consumer goods. Its compact design and flexibility to quickly adapt to small lot sizes, new styles and other modifications provides manufacturers an affordable solution for small part, flexible production.
The six-axis, LR Mate 200iC robot rates "best in class" for its wrist load capacity, repeatability, work envelope, and speed. Ideal for high-speed part handling, machine tending, assembly and material removal, the slim and lightweight robot can be mounted in a variety of positions including floor, tabletop, inside machines, angle and invert, which maximizes flexibility for small and narrow workspaces.
R-2000iB FoundryPRO Robot
The R-2000iB FoundryPRO robot represents a family of industrial robots, including pedestal and rack mount versions with a variety of payloads and reaches. A slim arm and wrist assembly helps minimize interference with system equipment and allows the robot to operate in small workspaces. The FoundryPRO option makes the entire robot IP67 protected for operation in harsh environments.
