Allied Vision Technologies has released version 1.3 of its Vimba software development kit, which now supports ARMv7 systems and OpenMP. ARM systems, which are used as compact, cost-effective hosts for machine vision systems, are convenient with Vimba due to platform-independent APIs for C and C++ and the support of cross-platform development. With Vimba, users can program and test their application on a Linux-based PC and compile it for their ARM system, shortening development time. In addition, Vimba provides prepared Makefiles and an application note for cross-compiling from Linux/x86 to Linux/ARM. Vimba 1.3 is GenICam-compliant and compatible with all major image processing libraries.
