OCR and OCV: Learn the latest enabling algorithms and imaging components

Optical character recognition (OCR) and optical character verification (OCV) tools are an essential function of numerous machine vision applications, including medical, pharmaceutical, automotive, and consumer packaged goods inspection. As is the case with any complex imaging application, there are inherent challenges in these technologies that must be overcome such as:

• Character stroke width variations and skew
• Touching characters with fixed font
• Background noise
• Dstinguishing similar characters

In order to achieve success in an OCR/OCV application, a number of imaging algorithms must be utilized. In a free webcast on March 22, Tom Brennan, President of Artemis Vision, will discuss these algorithms and methods employed in such applications. Additionally, he will discuss the components needed for an application, including cameras, optics, lenses, and lighting. By utilizing the right algorithms and components, users can improve their odds of a successful read, which Brennan will cover in-depth in this presentation.
