Mercury and Ziehm Imaging accelerate 3-D medical image reconstruction
NOVEMBER 29--Mercury Computer Systems (Chelmsford, MA; www.mc.com) has announced the first results of its ongoing alliance with Ziehm Imaging GmbH (www.ziehm.com) to increase performance and quality in 3-D image reconstruction and visualization for mobile C-arm x-ray systems. These systems are used for minimally invasive and interventional procedures in urology, neurology, orthopedics, and surgery.
Ziehm is leveraging Mercury's VisageRT 3-D imaging software and acceleration hardware to help enable high-resolution, very high-quality images from a small set of low-dose x-ray projections in a shorter time frame. The new systems accelerate the reconstruction process by a factor of more than 40X, reduce patient treatment time, and improve clinical workflow.
Mercury will demonstrate its new life sciences solutions, including the latest acceleration technology, scalable imaging servers, highly optimized software components, and turnkey medical workstation software, in booth #2775 at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, to be held November 28 to December 3 in Chicago, IL.
