OmniVision releases new image sensor designed for NIR applications

Sept. 24, 2019
The OG01A is also designed to avoid motion blur.

The OG01A image sensor, that features a 2.2-micron pixel, is a 1 MPixel. backside-illuminated global shutter image sensor in 1/5” optical format that can provide 120 fps at 1280 x 1024 and 240 fps at 640 x 480, designed largely for NIR applications.

The new sensor has a QE of 40% at 940 nm and 60% at 850 nm which, according to the manufacturer, allows the OG01A to perform well in low- and no-light conditions, enabling the use of fewer IR LEDs and lower system-level power consumption. The OG01A is also designed, according to the manufacturer, to avoid motion blur via high shutter efficiency.
