Adding to its line of Grasshopper3 USB3 Vision cameras, Point Grey has released the 12 MPixel GS3-U3-120S6 (color and monochrome) camera, which targets such applications as industrial inspection, 3D scanning, microscopy, and mobile mapping. The 14-bit ADC camera features a 1” Sony ICX834 global shutter CCD image sensor, which has a 3.1 µm pixel and 4242 x 2830 image resolution running in dual-tap at 7 fps. Like other Point Grey USB 3.0 cameras, the camera uses a proprietary USB 3.0 link layer and frame buffer-based architecture and an image processing pipeline to enable color interpolation, look up table, gamma correction, pixel binning and USB3 Vision support.
