Volpi Manufacturing USA gets large order

JANUARY 4--A major United States-based industrial-automation-system manufacturer has placed an order for Volpi Manufacturing USA (Auburn, NY; www.volpiusa.com) fiberoptic light lines to be used with a linescan camera imaging system. Although all details of the transaction have not been released, the order is for more than 2000 Volpi Mona Lisa fiberoptic light lines, for a total contract value of more than US$1.5 million. First shipments will be in January 2002, with the remainder to be shipped at regular intervals until September 2003.

Volpi Manufacturing USA, founded in 1953 near Zurich, Switzerland, also manufactures standard LED and fiberoptic illuminators for ring, back, diffuse incident, and coaxial lighting for area-scan applications with wavelengths from NIR to UV (and white). The company has been located in Auburn, NY, since 1978 and serves the machine-vision, microscope, medical, and OEM markets.
