ON Semiconductor has introduced the 8 MPixel KAI-08052 CCD image sensor, the first in the company’s CCD portfolio to leverage a new technology that improves the near-infrared sensitivity of CCD image sensors by double over the company’s standard Interline Transfer CCD pixel design. The KAI-08052 sensor is an 8 MPixel, 4/3” CCD that features a 5.5 µm pixel size and can achieve frame rates of 16, 8, and 4 fps (quad, dual, single output). Additionally, the sensor—which is available in monochrome, Bayer color, and sparse color configurations—has increased quantum efficiency of 820 nm.
