Miniature 3D stereo camera wins medical industry technology award
AWAIBA’s NanEye-Stereo camera module was recognized as the most innovative electronic component in the medical industry at the annualMEDICA conference held November 20-23 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The NanEye-Stereo camera from AWAIBA is a miniature3D stereo camera which enables the integration of 3D vision into medical endoscopes used for micro invasive surgeries. It features 500 x 500 pixels and a 3 µm x 3 µm pixel size with 10 bit pixel depth and rolling shutter. In addition, it achieves a 44 fps frame rate and 10 bit digital LVDS data output.
AWAIBA NanEye-Stereocameras enable the 3D image display of organs to the surgeon, which increases the precision of the operation and can potentially reduce the duration and cost of surgical procedures while reducing the risk to the patient. In addition, when combined with 3D data reconstruction, it also allows the surgeon to take accurate measurements and facilitate in-body navigation and tool operation. NanEye-Stereo utilizes a glasses-free 3D monitor with a 640 x 640 screen for viewing during procedures.
In addition, the camera not only minimizes the size of the module needed to perform such tasks, but it also shows potential when it comes to reducing the production costs related to the model to a level in which they may be introduced as “one time use” products, which reduce the risk of patient infection.
