JUNE 18--Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. (Japan; www.sanyo.co.jp) will receive this year's EDA Consortium Design Achievement Award. Sanyo is being honored for its system-on-chip (SoC) that handles all of the camera processing functions for its new IDC1000Z IDshot camera. The design is a 15-frame/s Mpixel real-time image processor that includes CCD signal processing, JPEG/MPEG2 image compression/decompression, a RISC CPU, an NTSC encoder, a SDRAM controller and peripheral interfaces.

The EDA Consortium and EE Times bestow the Design Achievement Award to acknowledge the efforts of design teams that optimize the use of commercial EDA tools to develop innovative integrated circuit and systems technology. The award sponsors select winning teams for design achievement and excellence in IC and systems developed in computer, networking, telecommunications, consumer, semiconductor, military/aerospace, and industrial/automotive/medical product categories.
