DECEMBER 25, 2008--The aviator camera series features two new camera models based on Kodak's new KAI-01050 CCD sensor. The first models feature 1-Mpixel resolution (1024 x 1024 pixels) at 120 frames/s. Progressive-scan readout and global shutter technology are implemented in the 62 x 62 x 57-mm housing. Applications include semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, metrology, and medical imaging. Image quality is measured and proven for each camera by automated EMVA 1288 sensitivity tests performed during production. Available in monochrome or color, standard cameras are equipped with a C-mount adapter but CS-mount versions will also be available.

PRESS RELEASE

Basler Presents new aviator Area Scan Camera Series
1 Megapixel Resolution at 120 Frames per Second with Superb Image Quality

Ahrensburg, 4 November 2008 - Basler Vision Technologies is expanding the product portfolio by adding its new Basler aviator camera series with two new camera models based on Kodak's new KAI-01050 CCD sensor.

The Basler aviator series is a high speed mainstream camera. It exhibits superior image quality even at high speed image capture rates. The first models of this series feature 1 megapixel resolution (1024 x 1024 pixels) at 120 frames per second. The Basler aviator is equipped with Kodak's state-of-the-art CCD sensors. The cameras provide progressive scan readout and global shutter technology. They are an ideal fit for various applications like semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, metrology and medical imaging.

"The aviator series pushes the speed barrier in the megapixel resolution arena to a new technical level while keeping the price extremely attractive," explains Henning Tiarks, Product Manager at Basler Components.
Combined with Basler's extensive Camera Link Interface and Kodak sensor experience, the Basler aviator offers excellent image results in linearity, dynamic range and noise level.

Additionally, Basler leveraged its tap balancing competence gained during the development of the Basler pilot series which also uses Kodak sensors.
The impressive image quality of the new aviator series will be measured and proven for each camera by automated EMVA 1288 sensitivity tests performed during production. The Basler aviator camera models feature a compact 62 mm x 62 mm x 57 mm housing. They are available in monochrome or color. Standard cameras are equipped with a C-Mount adapter but CS-Mount versions will also be available.

The aviator cameras will be introduced at VISION tradeshow in Stuttgart/Germany from November 4-6, 2008 and will enter series production in Q2/2009.
