New Scale Technologies, Inc. has announced the release of a developer’s kit for its M3-FS smart focus module. M3-FS focus modules provide lens motion in small spaces to help OEMs create handheld, portable, and mobile imaging devices. Each module is a complete, closed-loop motion solution and requires no more space than a typical fixed lens mount. The developer kit includes an M3-FS or M3-F focus module that can be controlled via PC using New Scale’s Pathway Software. The kit provides a platform for evaluation of the module as well as for system development. M3 modules accept a broad range of lenses and image sensors up to 17 x 17 mm, including 1/2" and 1/1.8" formats. M3-FS focus modules are suitable for use, according to New Scale Technologies, in such applications as medical imaging and robotic surgery, UAVs, industrial endoscopes, robotic inspection, and wearable assisted vision devices.
