OmniVision releases image sensors designed for smartphone cameras
OmniVision has released two new image sensors, the OV13B and OV16A. The OV13B is a 13 MPixel sensor in a 1/3" optical format with 1.12 µm pixel size. The small size of the chip enables 8.5 x 8.5 mm autofocus modules for main smartphone cameras and 6.4 x 7.2 mm fixed-focus modules for front-facing cameras. The OV13B is capable of 13 MPixel and 4K2K video at 30 fps, 1080p at 60 fps, and 720p at 120 fps.
The OV16A is a 16 MPixel sensor in a 1/3.06" optical format with 1 µm pixel size designed for front-facing cameras on thin bezel phones, enabling 6.5 x 6 mm fixed-focus camera modules, with 2x1 microlens phase detection focus that boosts autofocus accuracy in low light conditions.
