DECEMBER 30, 2008--A1312 series third-generation sensors are designed and fabricated in a 0.35-µm CMOS technology with 1312 x 1082-pixel resolution (8 x 8-µm square pixels) and over 60% fill factor. The fastest version of the sensor delivers 110 frames/s at full resolution. Dynamic range is extended up to 120 dB with patented LinLog technology. ROI can be freely set almost anywhere in the sensors, which support multiple ROIs. Speed can be increased to thousands of frames per second by reducing ROI through horizontal and vertical windowing. The sensors can begin to capture a new image while outputting the current image, maximizing the available exposure time and/or frame rate. Spectral range covers 350 to 1000nm. A tough, inorganic antireflective coating reduces the amount of light reflected back from the sensor surface.

PRESS RELEASE

New high dynamic range 1.4MP CMOS Sensors from Photonfocus

With the A1312 series Photonfocus is introducing the first sensors of the 3rd generation of CMOS imagers from Photonfocus. The 3rd generation sensors are designed and fabricated in a 0.35µm CMOS technology optimized for image sensors to achieve an outstanding sensitivity and quantum efficiency. The resolution of the new sensors is 1312 x 1082 pixels, with 8µm x 8µm square pixels and over 60% fill factor with an excellent image quality. The fastest version of the sensor delivers 110fps @ full resolution.

All monochrome versions of the new A1312 CMOS sensor provide a high dynamic range of up to 120dB with the well known LinLog technology patented by Photonfocus. Customers requiring sharp and smear free images even with high frame rates will be pleased with the fast global shutter of the new A1312 CMOS sensors developed by Photonfocus.

The ROI - Region of Interest - can be freely set almost anywhere in the new A1312 CMOS sensors, which support Multiple ROI as well. The speed of the sensors can be increased to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI - Region of Interest - through horizontal and vertical windowing.

The new A1312 CMOS sensors are able to start capturing a new image whilst outputting the current image, thus maximising the available exposure time and / or frame rate.

The monochrome versions of the A1312 sensor are delivered without cover glass as standard. This reduces the number of elements in the optical path, maximizes sensitivity and avoids internal reflections and associated image artefacts.

The A1312 CMOS sensors have an extended spectral range covering 350nm to 1000nm. A tough inorganic anti-reflective coating significantly reduces the amount of light reflected back from the sensor surface, increasing sensitivity and avoiding unwanted artefacts created by reflections in the system optics, especially in the near infra-red range around 850nm.
