JANUARY 23, 2009--The VC4465/C smart cameras feature a 1-GHz Texas Instruments processor with a computing power of 8000 MIPS. A 1/2-in. CCD sensor with 768 x 582-pixel resolution provides a maximum frame rate of 55 frames/s (110 frames/s in binning mode). Cameras are equipped with an RS-232 and an Ethernet interface, a high-speed encoder interface, and an external trigger input which enables jitter-free image recording at high reading frequencies. Basic versions come with 4-Mbyte flash EPROM and 64-Mbyte SDRAM, which can be optionally extended to 128 Mbytes. They have a direct video output, four digital PLC inputs, and four digital outputs. Programming is facilitated by VCLIB and COLORLIB programming libraries.

Optimized color image processing:
Revised intelligent camera from Vision Components

Ettlingen -- A new version of the intelligent high-performance camera VC4465/C,which ensures optimal color image reproduction thanks to revised electronics, is available now. The Smart Camera's key component is a 1 GHz processor from Texas Instruments with a computing power of 8,000 MIPS. The cameras feature a1/2" CCD sensor with a 768 x 582 pixel resolution which provides a maximum frame rate of 55 fps (110 fps in binning mode). They are equipped with an RS232 and an Ethernet interface, a high-speed encoder interface and an external trigger input which enables jitter-free image recording even at high reading frequencies. Basic versions come with 4 MB Flash EPROM and 64 MB SDRAM for program and picture storage, which can be optionally extended to 128 MB. Just like their predecessor models, the new intelligent cameras have a direct video output, four digital PLC inputs and four digital outputs. Programming is facilitated by Vision Components' VCLIB and COLORLIB programming libraries.

The new VC4465/C will be presented to the public at the international VISION trade show which will take place from November 4-6 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Company Background
Vision Components GmbH was founded in 1996 by Michael Engel, inventor of the first intelligent camera for industrial applications. Today, it is a leading supplier in the field of industrial image processing. The Ettlingen-based company develops and distributes intelligent, network-compatible real time cameras. Due to their proprietary multitasking operating system VCRT, the devices operate without an additional PC, making them easy to integrate into almost any industrial facility. Typical application areas include quality and completeness checks, measurement technology and biometric access control.
