NIR cameras feature dynamic range up to 120 dB
JUNE 2, 2009--A series of near-infrared (NIR) cameras includes models MV1-D1312-40-CL, MV1-D1312I-40-CL, and MV1-D1312I-160-CL based on the newly developed third-generation A1312 and A1312I CMOS sensors. The A1312I sensor was specifically developed for NIR applications up to 1100 nm. The sensors are designed and fabricated in a 0.35-µm CMOS technology optimized for image sensors to achieve high sensitivity and quantum efficiency. The resolution is 1312 x 1082 pixels, with 8 x 8-µm square pixels and over 60% fill factor with high image quality. The MV1-D1312-40-CL delivers 27 frames/s, the MV1-D1312I-160-CL 110 frames/s, and the MV1-D1312(I)-40-GB 27 frames/s, all at full resolution. The MV1-D1312I cameras start capturing a new image while outputting the current image to maximize the available exposure time and/or frame rate. They provide a dynamic range up to 120 dB with patented LinLog technology.

PRESS RELEASE
New NIR Cameras with GigE from Photonfocus
With the new monochrome MV1-D1312-40-GB and MV1-D1312I-40-GB cameras, with Gigabit Ethernet interface, Photonfocus is introducing two new CMOS cameras, based on the newly developed 3rd Generation CMOS imagers A1312 and A1312I from Photonfocus. The new CMOS imager A1312I was specially developed for NIR (Near Infra Red) applications up to 1100nm. The MV1-D1312I cameras provide a high dynamic range of up to 120dB with the well known LinLog technology patented by Photonfocus. The new cameras are equipped with all standard features needed for common applications whilst offering an outstanding image quality.
The A1312I image sensor series is designed and fabricated in a 0.35µm CMOS technology op-timized for image sensors to achieve an outstanding sensitivity and quantum efficiency. The resolution of the new sensors is 1312 x 1082 pixels, with 8µm x 8µm square pixels and over 60% fill factor with an excellent image quality. The spectral range of the new A1312I CMOS sensor has an extended spectral range covering 350nm to 1100nm. Besides the overall excellent image quality it's worth pointing out the remarkably high Near Infra Red (NIR) responsivity (Quantum Efficiency ca. 30% at 1000nm).
The new MV1-D1312(I)-40-GB cameras deliver 27fps @ full resolution. A major benefit of the new camera is the possibility to further increase the speed to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI - Region of Interest - through horizontal and vertical windowing.
Customers requiring sharp and smear free images even with high frame rates will be pleased with the fast global shutter of the new MV1-D1312(I)-40-GB cameras developed by Photonfo-cus.
The new MV1-D1312(I)-40-GB CMOS cameras are able to start capturing a new image whilst outputting the current image, thus maximising the available exposure time and/or frame rate.
Not using a cover glass on the new A1312 and A1312I Sensors, and with it in the new MV1-D1312-40-GB and MV1-D1312I-40-GB CMOS cameras, makes it possible to reduce the number of elements in the optical path. This leads to a maximisation of the sensitivity, whilst avoiding internal reflections and associated image artefacts.
