Teledyne FLIR has launched a new addition to its Lepton LWIR thermal camera line, the Lepton UW micro thermal camera module. This 8.47 x 12.7 x 11.14 mm, .7 g, LWIR camera has 160 x 120 resolution and 12 μm pixel size with a usable 120 pixel diameter area and a 57° FOV.  With an effective frame rate of 8.7 Hz, it has a thermal sensitivity of < 0.050 mK and an optimal operating temperature range of 10° C to +80° C.  It automatically puts out images independent of camera temperature. It has a scene dynamic range of -10° C to 140° C in high gain mode and -10° C to +400° C  in low gain mode. It is shutterless, so an external FFC is recommended. The Lepton UV is designed for vision systems applications requiring a wide field of view, including fire detection, process monitoring and people counting.
