With some 31 product lines, LYNRED is a global provider of infrared sensors for a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, defense, and commercial; this includes for machine vision applications requiring infrared technologies, such as inspections, sorting, and quality control. NIT designs and manufactures InGaAs-based SWIR imaging sensors and modules and is currently the only European company that offers a SWIR HD1080p array and module with 8µm pixel size.

The purpose of this merger, say LYNRED and NIT officials, is to expand LYNRED’s product portfolio to include high-definition large array SWIR sensors in small pixel pitch as well as develop and expand more global opportunities for significant growth for both companies.

“LYNRED’s acquisition of NIT is a growth accelerator. We will shorten time to market and leverage synergies in offering state-of-the-art SWIR products. The global market for SWIR infrared imaging for machine vision is growing fast, as well as for defense applications, such as laser detection and in new space,” stated LYNRED Executive President Hervé Bouaziz in an Oct. 7, 2024 press release. “NIT brings the agility of a small, innovative organization, with an extensive product offering able to cater to our large customer base. As we share complementary industrial supply chains and technical skills, we can deliver highly competitive SWIR imaging sensors and modules to customers.”

“I am glad to announce the acquisition of NIT by LYNRED,” NIT CEO Pierre Potet posted on LinkedIn. “This venture is a huge opportunity for NIT to boost its portfolio of imaging sensors and technologies and for LYNRED to add high performance SWIR sensors and high-level resources.”

The transaction is expected to be completed during Q4 2024, according to LYNRED and NIT officials.
