The Shape from Shading CIS is a complete Imaging System including all 4 Light Sources, Camera and Light Controller for Acquiring Shape-from Shading Images. The Images generated are suitable for Conversion using Software or FPGA based processing to derive Gradient Images X and Y, Height Image and Albedo Image. The sensor provides the necessary images to clearly separate tactile - e. g. Braille - from visual - e. g. print - properties in applications like pharmaceutical packaging, high quality print products and security print, coin and metal parts inspection. Compared to other methods to create Shape from Shading the CIS is extremely compact with just 4 x 4 inch cross section for the whole system.
