Individual camera and sensor solutions: the new Balluff business unit.
Individual solutions, uniform support: the new Balluff business unit with Custom Design & Engineering (CDE), the sensor and automation specialist Balluff has been extending its range of services for camera and sensor technology since last year. The focus is on responding even more flexibly to specific customer requirements and challenges.
Particularly in camera and sensor technology, there are always individual requirements in terms of structural shape, interfaces, or other specifications. “Balluff has always offered the service of responding to special requests beyond the standard portfolio,” says Ralf Grasmann, Vice President of Custom Design & Engineering at Balluff, adding: ”Until now, however, the responsibilities were divided across several product groups and departments at Balluff.”
For camera and sensor products, CDE now offers not only customer-specific adaptations and custom developments from a single source but also comprehensive project support throughout the entire product life cycle. Thanks to a close development partnership for all topics specific to cameras and sensors, customers can focus on their core capabilities. This minimizes risks, reduces costs, and shortens the time to market.
Demanding fields of application, high accuracy
The extended range of products and services is primarily used in demanding fields of application with high engineering requirements. Particularly in the semiconductor and life science sectors as well as in medical technology, there are special environmental conditions and extreme requirements for particularly high sensor accuracy. This is partly due to the strict inspection criteria in production, for example in the medical field, which standard products are often unable to meet.
Development partnership at eye level
“In terms of electronics, mechanics, and software, we are able to meet our customers' requirements at our center of excellence — for example by developing and manufacturing our own LEDs in optical sensor technology or a complete camera including new image sensors and interface technology,” says Ralf Grasmann.
He emphasizes: “With our approach, we offer our customers a development partnership that stretches from the product idea through to implementation and finds the best solution together.” According to Ralf Grasmann, Balluff's high level of technological expertise and many years of experience in these areas are a plus, and adaptations and modifications are possible across almost the entire product range and worldwide. “This allows the customer to focus on their core capabilities.”
It's all about customer focus
“Focusing on our customers is in Balluff’s DNA — consequently, the fact that they are at the center of what we do is an important aspect of our corporate philosophy,” says Ralf Grasmann. “This means that CDE will continue to play a decisive role in the Balluff Group’s growth strategy in the future.”
