HACARUS and Visco Technologies to Collaborate on Automation of Visual Inspections

Jan. 22, 2024

January 22nd, 2024 – Kyoto & Tokyo, HACARUS, on a mission to bring the next generation of instruments to every industry and Visco Technologies, experts in the field of visual inspections and image processing inspections, today announced a joint technology collaboration to promote automation of visual inspections in the manufacturing industry.

Scope of Collaboration
1) Hacarus Check AI software paired with Visco’s image processing inspection tool
HACARUS Check AI software has been integrated with Visco’s image processing inspection equipment, the VTV-9000 series, allowing for seamless use between the two systems.

(2) Joint go-to-market activities
The two firms will jointly conduct marketing activities such as exhibitions and seminars to further improve their ability to propose optimal systems to meet end-user’s inspection needs.

Joint Value Proposition
Hybrid system allow for selecting the optimal approach based on inspection target
By providing a hybrid AI and rule-based inspections system, the best approach based on the inspection target can be adopted, and customers can with ease try both methods.

Expansion of inspection targets supported, and implementation of AI visual inspection with ease
The lineup expands to include high-definition inspection, which is Visco’s specialty, and inspection of extremely small parts. Customers simply add-on AI software to hardware that includes camera, lens, lighting, lighting controller, and communication environment necessary for image processing. Customers can quickly set up the environment necessary for inspection and get started with AI visual inspection.

AI performance verification can be completed in-house to determine applicability
The VTV-9000 controller can perform the inspections (AI inference), allowing customers to verify AI performance on their own, make adjustments, and determine how to best deploy the technology.

Background
Both companies are working to automate manufacturing process inspections by replicating the visual inspections performed by humans in order to solve the problem of human resource shortages in the manufacturing industry. VISCO’s VTV-9000 series, already equipped with more than 70 inspection tools, combines versatility for all industrial product inspection applications with a high degree of specialization to suit specific fields.

In the future, Visco intends to propose optimal inspections to customers in cooperation with HACARUS, in order to strengthen its response to the stringent inspection requirements of the automotive industry.

About HACARUS Check AI software
An AI visual inspection software producing highly accurate predictions, trained with small data & only with good samples – at high speed. It does not require individual development for each inspection target or the use of GPU, running on-premise for both training and predictions.

Compared to deep learning, which requires a large amount of training data, HACARUS AI can extract features from a small amount of data and operate with high accuracy, making it possible to build and operate the system while reducing costs and deployment time.
