New trilinear camera delivers low-cost, high quality color imaging to demanding vision applications

July 22, 2019

Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies [NYSE:TDY] company and global leader in machine vision technology, is pleased to announce its new Piranha™4 8k trilinear color camera. This newest Piranha model uses Teledyne e2v’s latest CMOS 8k trilinear sensor, with a 7.5 x 7.5 µm pixel, and delivers a maximum line rate of 33 kHz x 3 or 100 kHz aggregate with a Camera Link interface.

Replacing the bilinear Piranha4, the trilinear model offers improved color imaging at a lower cost and can be used in a variety of industrial applications including print, printed circuit board, electronic component, and general web inspections.

“We are delighted to offer system designers this new low-cost color camera. The Piranha4 trilinear model is the first combined product release from Teledyne DALSA and Teledyne e2v and is evidence of our close collaboration and advanced design, and production expertise. All pointing to the strength of our integration as Teledyne Imaging,” said Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager. “With the combined strength of both companies, we are able to further deliver the industry’s best performing products and support to our OEM customers, with a shorter time to market.”

This newest Piranha4 model is supported by Teledyne’s Xtium series of high-performance frame grabbers. Together, they provide a total solution for demanding imaging applications.
