IMPERX Introduces Bobcat Color Cameras with Unparalleled Sensitivity

July 5, 2013

Oct. 29, 2012, Boca Raton, FL – Imperx, Inc. is again at the forefront of innovation by introducing color cameras with high sensitivity. These cameras enable full-color digital imaging with exceptional low light performance and very fast capture times to freeze the motion of fast moving objects. The Bobcat cameras along with the other high performance Imperx cameras will be on display at the VISION fair in Stuttgart, Germany.

“Low light sensitivity continues to be a critical parameter for many of the applications served by Imperx,” said Petko Dinev, CEO of Imperx, Inc. “By implementing image sensors with the TRUESENSE Sparse Color Filter Pattern technology from Truesense Imaging, we are able to offer cameras that deliver superior color imagery for demanding low light applications.”

This technology is well matched to applications that operate in uncontrolled lighting conditions. Surveillance, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Medical applications will benefit from the 2x to 4x increase in light sensitivity compared to a standard Bayer color camera. By exploiting image sensors that incorporate “clear” pixels in addition to the red, green, and blue elements that traditionally form the color array, the cameras are sensitive to all wavelengths of visible light and capture a significantly higher proportion of the light from the scene or object. Cameras utilizing this technology provide color images with the sensitivity typically associated with monochrome cameras - a critical performance advantage for light starved applications.

“Imperx’s selection of these image sensors validates the performance benefits this technology brings to the market,” said Antonio Ciccarelli, Director, Worldwide Marketing at Truesense Imaging, Inc. “Imperx was very interested to evaluate this technology when it was first introduced and was quickly convinced that this low-light color capability satisfied a key customer need.”

Several Bobcat camera models are now available including: 29 Megapixel, 16 Megapixel, 8 Megapixel, 4 Megapixel, 2 Megapixel HD and 2 Megapixel (4:3) in TrueSense with GigE, Camera Link or CoaxExpress.
