Programmed using Python scripts instead of C/C++, the OpenMV Cam M7 is a $65 embedded visioncamera integrated on a small, low-power microcontroller board that enables the implementation of machine vision applications in the real world, according to the company. The OpenMV Cam M7 features an STM32F765VIARM Cortex M7 processor running at 216 MHz with 512KB of RAM and 2 MB of flash, a USB interface, a µSD card capable of 100Mbs reads/writes, and an SPI bus that can run up to 54Mbs, enabling users to stream image data off the system.
Additionally, the OpenMV Cam M7 features an RGB LED, two 850nm IR LEDs, and the OV7725 VGA image sensor from OmniVision, which can capture 640 x 480 8-bit grayscale images or 640 x 460 16-bit RGB565 images at 60 fps. Most algorithms, according to the company, will run at 30 fps. The camera comes with a 2.8 mm lens on a standard M12 lens mount.
